Can Andrew Gillum Make a Comeback?

Posted by Tim Kaelin on

In case you forgot the name, Andrew Gillum is the former Democrat mayor of Tallahassee, Florida.  In 2018, he ran for governor of Florida against Republican Ron DeSantis.  Gillum – the first Black American to secure the Democrat nomination -- lost that race. Gillum had been a bit of a political wunderkind, having been elected to the Tallahassee City Commission at the age of 23.  After his gubernatorial defeat, Gillum became a celebrity panelist and contributor for the more liberal news outlets – making frequent appearances on MSNBC and CNN.  Like Stacy Abrams – another Black American who narrowly lost...

The Bleeding Hearts are the Gullible Faction of the Authoritarian Left

Posted by Tim Kaelin on

There has always been two major factions on the left.  They are the power-mongers – who use government money in the form of welfare, entitlement programs, grants, subsidies and alleged free stuff to gain and maintain power – and those often referred to as “bleeding heart liberals.”  The latter  tend to believe that all problems can be solved by government intervention and unlimited spending for every cause they bleed over.  In their utopian fantasies, they seem to have no understanding of reality.  They do not focus on broad social issues but have a fairy tale mentality that each and every...

Ocasio-Cortez Dominates Biden

New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is the personification of the radical left.  If there was a congressional assemblage of the radical left in Congress, it would be referred to as the Socialist Caucus – with Ocasio-Cortez as the chairperson. To put some perspective on the issue, you must understand that freshman members of Congress are rarely to be seen or heard.  They are what is known as “back benchers.”  They get the most dismal committee assignments, the smallest congressional offices and rarely are allowed to introduce legislation on their own. The fact that Ocasio-Cortez ran as a disrupter came as...

Will Obama vote for Biden?

Posted by Tim Kaelin on

Yes, that is a silly question.  Of course, former President Barack Obama will vote for his former Vice President.  In addition, he and former First Lady Michelle Obama will be campaigning for the Biden/Harris team. So, why the question?  It is to open the issue of what Obama REALLY thinks of Biden – apart from the obligatory campaign talk.  While Biden paints a rosy picture of how he and Obama worked hand-in-hand in great harmony – sort of like Bob Hope and Bing Crosby in the old “road movies.”  (And yes, I am that old, but I could not think...

Portland is still Portland

Posted by Tim Kaelin on

It seems that the left-leaning east coast news media has lost interest in what is happening in Portland Oregon.  The city is now in the 70th … 71st…. 72nd … ???  …    Well whatever day it is, the rioters in Portland have shown a great deal of tenacity.  They are still vandalizing, damaging, burning and attacking police. Rather than admit the no longer deniable -- that these street thugs are nothing more than anti-social, anti-American malcontents.  And so, the media prefers to virtually cease their frequent reports on the situation in Portland.  Only $15.99 The media can no longer pretend...
