Some of the best conspiracy theories fall into three main categories: UFOs, the “Deep State,” and celebrity deaths. There is a new one circulating, that lands with a bang into the last category.
Controversial rapper Kanye West has claimed that Tommy Mottola, who was the CEO of Sony at the time of Michael Jackson’s death, had the “King of Pop” killed.
Officially, Jackson lost his life at 51, due to a cardiac arrest in 2009. His personal physician, Dr. Conrad Murray, was later found guilty of involuntary manslaughter, and he got sentenced to four years in jail.
But, Kanye has a very different theory. He mentioned in a recent Twitter rant, "MJ told you about Tommy before they killed him Kim saved my daughter’s life in the name of Jesus. It's Gods choice only I will live for my children Kris I'm in Cody if you’re not planning another one of your children's playboy shoots."
According to the London Daily Mirror, the somewhat incoherent tweet, which has since been deleted, refers to Mottola. Around the time of his death, Jackson did have a huge fallout with the music boss and had spoken out against him, calling Mottola “devilish and racist.” But there is no evidence that can back up Kanye’s bizarre claim that the former CEO of Sony was in any way involved in Michael's death.
There had been turmoil between Jackson and Sony for quite some time, but things really soured between MJ and the label when he did not get the licenses for the masters of his albums as per his contract.
When the rights to the masters did not revert to Jackson in 2002, as he believed they should per his contract, he demanded an early exit from the contract.
Eventually, the label did not renew the contract with the pop legend and alleged that they incurred a loss of millions as the singer declined to go on tour for his album Invincible.
Kanye did not provide any elaboration on his speculation, and the tweet has been deleted. No stranger to controversy himself, West has been in the news in the last few weeks for many reasons. On July 4, he made an announcement that he is running for president in 2020, and he has also opened up about his relationship with Kim Kardashian.
