Is George Soros Backing Antifa and Promoting Protests and Unrest?

Posted by Tim Kaelin on

Is it possible that there is any truth to the claims that billionaire investor George Soros is paying protesters, stashing bricks and financing Antifa?

Such claims have surged amid the nation-wide unrest following the death of George Floyd.

The theories argue that Soros hires protesters, rents buses to transport them and has people stash piles of bricks to be hurled into glass storefronts or at police.

This is not the first-time conspiracy theories have been hurled at the left-wing billionaire.

However, these more recent accusations are so credible that, several conservative groups are calling on authorities to “investigate George Soros for funding domestic terrorism and his decades-long corruption.”

While any such allegations have never been proven, what we do know is that Soros, 89, has donated billions of dollars of his personal wealth to liberal and anti-authoritarian causes around the world, making it not out of the realm of possibilities that he would support the actions of groups like Antifa and BLM.

When asked if he believed if it was possible that Soros himself created and is backing Antifa, President Trump responded, “I wouldn’t be surprised. A lot of people say yes…”

For now, most of the evidence suggests the protests are what they seem -- gatherings of thousands of Americans upset about police brutality and racial injustice. Still, the accusations flooding the internet leveled against Soros range from him simply funding the protests, to him being involved in faking the death of George Floyd and financing the creation of the coronavirus.

While such claims range from the credible to the outrageous, this reporter has often found that when it comes to “conspiracy theories,” the truth lies somewhere in between.

  • Everybody I read about this unrest points to it being backed by Soros. Besides he is evil enough and has enough money to support such wide spread destruction. He also hates the United States and Trump.

  • Since it is far more difficult to build and happy for profit than the sow destruction and violence, why not systematically create disorder and destruction for profit? By the time Soros is investigated, processed, questioned as a witness, etc… He’ll be 120 yrs old or dead. Rich but dead.

  • Yes, I think Soros is responsible for a lot of corruption in this country. Why did he come here if he is so against things.
He needs to pack his bags and go home? I have heard he is nothing but dirt.

  • Look at his history in WWII, the destruction on the destruction on the monetary systems of Israel and the United Kingdom. After reviewing his background information and you do not think he is dirty, you need your head examined!

  • Soros may or may not be funding the terrorists, but someone is. These people must be unemployed and yet they have money to travel across country to riot. Government should investigate who is funding the riots and hammer whomever it is.
